Pastoralist and businessman. In 1844 Currie, in partnership with Thomas Anderson, purchased Larra run near Camperdown, Victoria. This property eventually became the centre of breeding experiments and Currie achieved a considerable reputation as a producer of fine wool. He also achieved notable success as a pastoral improver.
